It’s a pleasure making my rugs from rare breed sheep fleece – it’s my skill. It’s another thing to sell a product through my business, Pastures Ewe.
New to being self employed after loosing my job to COVID I innocently thought I’ll just make rugs and sell them. I set up a website (I’m of an age this was so hard to do on my own) nevertheless I did it and waited for the orders to roll in. They didn’t roll in! I struggled to tried and fathom how to get sales. I contacted a variety of ‘experts’ who told me they could get me 100’s of sales they just needed £1,000 up front to look at my site and then commit to an ongoing monthly subscription.
Obviously this was a no go, firstly because of the money, no guarantees of success and felt like I was being scammed. I was ready to give up Pastures Ewe and get a job, if I could at my age. I went to yoga one day and the tutor (Clare of Long Melford Yoga) asked me as usual “how are you”? My bubble burst and my problems came tumbling out, she was good, she listened to my ramblings and just said “you need to contact Breakout, they’ll help you”.
As a last ditch attempt to make my business work I contacted Farley at Breakout, as recommended, and went to visit her. We discussed my problems and set up a couple of one hour meetings to go through on a one to one basis (£40 per hour and no ongoing commitment. I felt I was getting a bargain).
As a result of Breakout Pastures Ewe has continued and my sales and commissions are improving. I don’t have my website anymore, I have now been able to identify with Breakout where my sales are and simplified the admin (which I hate) and my computer, social media, designing socials, and SEO skills have all improved.
Since my first meeting with Farley I have now had meetings for different issues/training with the whole team and find that they all, without exception are perfect, they are professional and care about helping businesses.
